Evaluation activity 4

Who would be your audience for your media product?

The following is of my audience profile that will help me describe my target audience, such as the following: Age, Soocio economic groups, and group status.

Age ...

The age that my magazine is targeting, is mainly those between the ages (15-24) years of age, who may be interested in this genre of music. Most people this age usually listen to artists such as Paramore, Lily Allen and Cancer Bats. However, there is also a chance that and older age group may be interested in this genre of music. The older age group of people tend to hear it on the radio, Tv or to those who may subscribe or buy music magazines.

Socio economic groups ...
The price of my magazine is £4, considering this is a monthly music magazine, it is quite expensive. Since the price of my magazine is high, my aspired socio economic
target audience would be that of Group B and C. Group B can be defined as an intermidiate managerial person. for example, a teacher or even a bank manager. As for group C, there are to sub divisions of group C. Group C1 and C2. C1 is a person with junior managerial skills, like a sales person or a floor supervisor. C2, are skilled manual workers such as carpenters and electricians. According to an economic theory, poorer people are more likely to spend money on magazines than that of a rich person. Disposable income is more apparent in poorer people than the rich, due to the savings and payments the rich might undertake. For example, mortgages.

Social Status ...

Using Uk Tribes, I have identified specifically the type of people who would be interested in my magazine. Usually, I am not one to judge someone on the basis of what type of music they listen to, but it is a proven fact that advertisers, magazines and every other type of media, use such segmentations to target there target audience. Magazines such as Kerrang fall under the socila group of Emos, Goths and grungers. These are typical stereotypes people have about the genre of music such as Kerrang. Mojo would fall under the social class of townies, indie scenesters, casuals etc. My magazine, Broken Ghost I feel will best suit that of an indie, townies and trendies. uktribes.co.uk has helped me see and understand those who will be interested in reading my magazine.
